PARISH
NURSE MINISTRY
Parish nurses
and other caring people from the Church will
go into the homes of those who are
homebound. They will visit these needy folks
on a regular basis to assist them with their
medical and spiritual needs.
Here are just some of the
services a parish nurse can provide:
-
Help in accessing and navigating the
health system
-
Programs to promote healthy exercise and
nutrition
-
Education on health issues
-
Support groups
-
Health screenings
-
Assistance to new parents
-
Support for hospitalized or homebound
family members

Our goal is to obtain a Registered Nurse or medical professional from
each church to volunteer to take the role of
the Parish
Nurse within his/her congregation.
For those churches without an
available volunteer, we hope to have
churches volunteer to “adopt” a second
church.
The responsibility is not to take
the entire project on individually,
but to encourage other people within the
church to assist with these programs.
This nurse would be able to poll
their congregation and to determine their
perceived needs, and then help to create
programs to meet these needs within the
church, eventually branching out to their
community.
Thank you for your
compassion,
Alan
